Dental Hygiene
Dental hygiene is professional teeth cleaning that removes plaque, tartar and pigmentation. It also restores the natural tooth color and improves overall oral health.
Regular dental hygiene helps prevent:
- tooth decay
- gum inflammation (gingivitis)
- periodontitis
The main cause of these diseases is microbial plaque, which must be regularly removed mechanically through proper home hygiene and professional treatment.
Why Is Dental Hygiene Important?
Insufficient oral hygiene most often causes gum inflammation. At first, it appears as:
- swollen gums
- sensitivity
- bleeding while brushing
If left untreated, it can progress to periodontitis, a disease that damages bone and tissues around the tooth. It may result in:
- bad breath
- gum recession
- loosening or even tooth loss
Inflammation in the oral cavity can also affect overall health. It is associated, for example, with diseases such as:
- diabetes mellitus
- cardiovascular diseases
- rheumatoid arthritis
How Often Should You Have Dental Hygiene?
The recommended interval is once every 6 months. More frequent treatment is recommended for:
- patients with gum disease
- patients with increased tooth decay
- cardiac patients
For higher-risk patients (periodontitis, higher decay risk, cardiovascular disease), we recommend more frequent visits based on individual condition. Treatment length varies, usually 40-60 minutes.
Dental Hygiene Process
Clinical Examination
Examination of teeth, gums and oral hygiene level.
Tartar Removal
Using an ultrasonic device above and below the gumline.
Manual Finishing
Use of special instruments (curettes and scalers) for precise removal of residues.
Airflow Cleaning
Removal of pigmentation and plaque with a fine powder stream, restoring natural tooth color.
Tooth Polishing
After treatment, teeth are smooth and shiny, which slows plaque buildup.
Instruction and Motivation
Individual home-care guidance (toothbrush, interdental brushes, dental floss).
Fluoridation
Strengthening tooth enamel and protection against decay.
